Our unique "Mayor Island Experience" is an unforgettable two day adventure in the pristine waters around Mayor Island aboard "Enterpirse", mooring overnight in South East Bay, with the opportunity to dive with New Zealand fur seals, feed sting rays, and kayak around the unspoilt bays. Our experienced guides will ensure you have an unforgettable time.
Mayor Island is a strikingly beautiful and peaceful place, a wildlife refuge, rich in native New Zealand birdlife and bush and home to the largest Pohutakawa canopy in the world.
A Marine Reserve was established in 1993 which includes about five kilometres of coastline and extends one nautical mile offshore at the northern end of the island. Over 60 species of fish are known in the area and it is becoming more and more popular as a diving destination to rival the Poor Knights Islands.
An on board barbeque completes the days activities, before retiring to the bunks below decks or sleeping on the deck under the stars. Full toilet facilities and a hot shower are available on board.
Early risers will be treated to a majestic dawn chorus of native New Zealand species such as tui and bellbird, before breakfast is served and your second days adventures begin.
We regret to advise that landing on Mayor Island is not permitted at this time (December 2008, until further notice). We will update this page again should the situation change.
